Made to feel unmistakably yours.

We design and build custom cabinetry that elevates your home and is tuned to exactly how you live.

Who we are: We are a team of six designers, engineers, CNC operators, veneer artists and fabrication specialists who have worked together for over 18 years. At the helm is Fritz Muegenburg, bringing 30 years of experience across architecture, real estate development, and custom cabinetry design and execution to every project we take on. Together, we sweat the thousand invisible decisions that separate technically good work from generational craftsmanship.

What we make:‍ ‍Custom kitchens, bathroom vanities, media and entertainment cabinets, built-in bookcases, closet systems, and one-of-a-kind built-ins for the whole home.

Where we make it: Our Berkeley, California production facility is fully operational and our team is actively designing, engineering, building, and delivering custom cabinetry to homes throughout the Bay Area.

Our capacity: We take on the equivalent of 24 kitchen-scale projects a year, by design, so every one gets our full attention, whether you need a house full of cabinetry or a single built-in to define your family room. Scroll down for contact information, we'd love to talk about your project.

What People Are Saying

"My partner and I worked with Fritz and his team to design our dream kitchen — a complete gut renovation of a 200 sq ft space we plan to live with forever. Fritz did everything short of running the machines himself. He listened intently, stretched the limits of a small space to solve every challenge, and delivered a level of service that exceeded our expectations at every turn.

What truly set the experience apart was the final inspection before shipping. We expected to see a box or two opened — instead, we walked into a complete mock-up of our entire kitchen. It confirmed we'd made the right decision.

My partner is an architect, and found a kindred spirit in Fritz. His knowledge, problem-solving, and hands-on attention never let up from start to finish. Every day we walk into our kitchen, we feel grateful for what Fritz created — a space optimized for our lifestyle that flows beautifully with the rest of our home."

"Working with Fritz to design our Bozeman farmhouse kitchen cabinets was a pleasure. He has an excellent sense of design, was very responsive to our questions, and offered many thoughtful suggestions. We are extremely happy with the custom cabinets his team designed, built, and installed. The walnut is beautiful, and the cabinet quality is exceptional."

“Fritz Muegenburg and his team did an extraordinary job fitting a beautiful Oak Library into the living room of my 110 year old Belvédère/Corinthian Island home. The work was extremely high quality, the fit was perfect, and the lighting solution highlights the books and the curves of the soffits above perfectly. All in all, a beautiful transformation.”

"Some might say this recommendation of Fritz and his team is an exaggeration, while I contend it is an understatement. The difference in having this finesse of design, craftsmanship, knowledge, sensibility, and vision in one’s home is as large as bringing the mystery of the forest through the tree. Its presence changes one’s life through the daily experience of natural beauty. Without words, it touches the heart. It is stunning, like one’s own inner silence. The space, design, and juxtaposition of materials are created through everyone’s collaboration - homeowner, designer, and builder – to create something larger than life yet of the earth."

"I actually wish we were doing another kitchen as our work with Fritz and his team was so satisfying. Their design sense plus fitting our specific needs into the space plan, the exquisite wood cabinetry and the style was spot on. It’s been over 5 years now and we are as happy with the kitchen as when we first began."

“My wife and I were thrilled to learn that Fritz has founded Craftworks Custom Cabinetry and brought together a team of master craftsmen. Our Carmel beach cottage was a challenging 2200 sq ft project where Fritz and his team seamlessly integrated Teak & Dossier paneling, stainless steel, glass, and stone into custom cabinetry across three stories with extremely close tolerances. The finished result—often called a "jewel box"—won the Judges Choice Award from the American Society of Interior Design Peninsula Chapter. Their craftsmanship, from invisible cabinet installations to meticulous cooperation with architects and other trades, helped us create our dream house.”

The Spirit of Craftworks:

Every object we make tells a story of thoughtful design, skilled hands, and lasting relationships.

In a world of disposable convenience and mass production, we believe in something different: We believe that the heart of your home deserves more than factory-made solutions. It deserves cabinetry that tells a story, your story, through thoughtful design and uncompromising craft.

We reject the notion that custom means complicated: We listen. We design with purpose. Every cabinet, every detail, every interaction is crafted to solve real problems while creating lasting beauty.

We are woodworkers at heart: Our hands shape more than just wood — we shape the daily rituals of your life. The morning coffee routine. The family dinner preparations. The quiet moments when you pause and appreciate something made just for you. This is where craftsmanship meets purpose.

We believe in the power of human scale: We choose fewer projects and deeper relationships where every client receives our complete attention because excellence cannot be rushed or replicated at scale.

We create designs that transcend the moment: We partner with our clients to create a clean and balanced design that feels as relevant decades from now as it does today. Our aesthetic speaks quietly but confidently - sophisticated enough for discerning taste, yet warm enough for daily life.

We stand for generational quality: The objects we make will age gracefully in your home, growing more beautiful with time, ready to serve the next generation of your family's memories.

We are your partner through the entire journey: We don't just deliver products; we deliver the peace of mind that comes from working with people who truly care about getting it right.

This is our promise: Every cabinet we build will function flawlessly, age beautifully, and exceed your expectations. You'll work directly with master craftsmen who take genuine pride in the details. When we're done, you'll have heirloom-quality pieces built for how you live. No surprises. No shortcuts. Just honest work, done right.
